Justice league vs the fatal five

The fate of earth hangs in the balance when the league battles five new villains from the future while trying to figure out whether another character who is also from the future is a villian or a hero.

This is the 34th movie in the DCAU movies which should be distinguished from the 52 movie series.

Having seen the plot of this animated movie let's now talk about this movie on its own merit.

First of all the first thing I enjoyed about this show is the plot and the potential it had for development and being put to very good use, recently most dc movies and animated movies have had very basic plot which removes anything like anticipation, climax, conflict from the movie totally. But this is not the situation here, we are introduced to star boy who is very familiar to comic fan boys but has not had much time on screen, also there is the story of Green Lantern coming into her own, alongside the regulars such as batman, Superman, wonderwoman, flash etc.
This movie really had a lot of areas to exploit and build a wonderful conflict but unfortunately this was not properly done or rather it was not fully exploited. We just did not see enough about star boy who was meant to have his coming out party, he was still overshadowed by Superman and it was a headscratching decision of we are being honest.

One of the areas the show actually tried was in character development, I will rate them quite highly here, Jessica Cruz Green Lantern was given time to grow from being a character who was scared and would not even get out-of bed due to her near death experience to becoming a bad Ass fighter who was able to hold her own against any villian and it literally happened before our eyes .
The character star boy was also allowed to grow and they used both his and Green Lantern character to actually touch on a very sensitive subject which is mental health and it's effects, this is not an easy feat to pull off because if it had gone wrongly the push back would have been terrible.

Introduction of new heroes who will continue after our favourite heroes are gone, this has already occurred in the comics and we are finally coming around to it On the sliver screen and it was not bad at all, any regular comic fan will have been used to most of these characters but for the not so comic enthusiast it feels strange seeing a dc movie where Superman is not saving the day and this was the biggest shock I think but it was effectively done meaning that when next week get a solo star boy movie we won't be shocked if we see him being an overpowered super hero.

Another thing to like about this animated movie has to be the voice casting and as a fan of the original DCAU it was great hearing the voices of Kevin Conroy and  George newbern as batman and Superman respectively.
It was so effortless on their part ,we really did miss them as the voicing for this character especially Kevin whose dark humour has been sorely missed and was easy to spot once you heard batman dialogue.

The fight scenes were okay not spectacular but it was quite good and this is what that has come to be expected from DCAU and they always deliver on this aspect and this one was no different, the action sequences were quite thrilling and blended into the movie, especially where we saw superman getting injured and not being able to heal immediately this was quite nice to see but at what point are we going to stop trying to belittle Superman who gets his Ass whopped by any Tom, dick and Harry from any timeline it's tiring though he is meant to be the strongest character and it's not like they are using kryptonite to even make him weak.

Yeah and it can't be all praise who ever that drew the villians has a lot of explaining to do and we are seriously waiting for that explanation. It was terrible artwork, they looked more like clowns than actual scary villians from the future who could actually kill Superman, they looked more like arkham inmates and were not scary at all. More time should always be dedicated to the villian, a great villian always make for a compelling storyline and better overall effect on the movie.

From us here at fca it's a solid 7/10 for this newest DCAU and it's one the kids and adults can enjoy together, its not too bloody and it's not too childish it's just a perfect blend of both and it delivered at you can see from the favourable reviews it has garnered .
