Dragon Ball Super: Broly! It's The Obvious Best!!!
A planet destroyed, a powerful race reduced to nothing. After the devastation of Planet Vegeta, three Saiyans were scattered among the stars, destined for different fates. While two found a home on Earth, the third was raised with a burning desire for vengeance and developed an unbelievable power. And the time for revenge has come. Destinies collide in a battle that will shake the universe to its very core! Goku is back to training hard so he can face the most powerful foes the universes have to offer, and Vegeta is keeping up right beside him. But when they suddenly find themselves against an unknown Saiyan, they discover a terrible, destructive force.
This is unarguably the best Dragon Ball movie ever made. When Akira Toriyama made it known that he was returning to produce a Dragon Ball Super movie, after the series of the same name, fans could only expect the best. With the choice of Broly as the villain, it was met with a lot of scepticism, said villain having been explored in two previous movies.
One thing that did make this movie stand out from previous Dragon Ball movies is the attention to details, the incredible plot and character development, a very compelling and relatable conflict and incredible fight scenes. But most of all, it's the storyline and the plot development that did it totally for viewers and fans alike. As we have come to expect, a Dragon Ball movie will always deliver on great fight scenes, but almost always lacks the proper development required to make the movie an immersive watch. This is the one aspect that Toriyama and Co have been able to deliver without much fuss. I guess Genius ideas just come natural to Toriyama.
First off, the concept was pretty simple, almost a direct derivative of the Broly: The Legendary Super Saiyan. Where this however totally outclassed the former is in the development of the plot and the overall story telling. The decision to give almost 25 minutes to the back stories of the principal actors was an amazing initiative, it worked it's magic and captivated viewers even before the conflict elements began to form or take shape.

Again, how the writer was able to carefully craft the conflict from the already solid storyline and the well developed plot element is classy. How the characters came together at the final battle ground is reminiscent of the Dragon BallZ of old, it brought back memories, and Goku's allusion to their past battles and enemies even made the fight scenes all the more relatable and compelling to watch.
On the voice acting part, well I was Unlucky to get an English dubbed version, and whereas I am not overly impressed with the English speaking version, I must mention that you will easily forget about that aspect as soon as you get into the movie proper. But for the Japanese Voice overs, it's basically the same cast returning once again, so it was some good stuff as expected.
We must also mention that the animation style chosen for the movie was amazing. Fans had felt it was a regression from the known style, but seeing it being used in the movie achieved great results. The mechanics and the motion dynamics worked smoothly, the animation rarely had any glitches and the fast paced combats worked perfectly. That being said, the combat was fast, brilliant and rivetting. The battle conclusion leaves a whole lot for subsequent exploration and we hope it is given a spin once again either as a subsequent movie or as a tv adaptation.
From us here at FCA this is an animated movie that we definitely recommend to our readers out there. It's bound to be an amazing watch, a story telling master piece and a fast paced action packed work of art. Amazing and well crafted character design. Dynamic cgi mechanics. Everything with this movie is just spot on, and it's no surprise that it's the best DB movie ever made.
