A Nollywood Masterpiece?

Sons Of The Caliphate: A gold Mine?
Sons of the Caliphate is a story about three(3) rich, young, entitled, ambitious and passionate young men. Nuhu, Kalifa and Dikko are friends, bonded by familial ties, wealth and influence and their insatiable thirst for power, and perhaps a dark secret?
Sons of the Caliphate is a creative masterpiece. It not only takes the audience through a storied tale of the lives of these young men , but also exposes the viewer to the ways of life of the Northern Elite, the chosen way of life, the opulence and the secrets being carried around by these classes of persons.
The presentation of ideas is absolutely spot on, we are introduced to characters and we watch them develop and come into their elements. Why we are perhaps so intrigued by this tvshow is the breathtaking picture quality, and the unrivalled quality of the dialogues.
The show started off with a friendly rivalry, to the introduction of political interests, conflicts of interest, love, betrayals, assassinations and ultimately, corruption.
Everything about this tvshow speaks "quality", the production, the casting and the suspense elements are all up there with the best of them.
Let's take a look at the characters and their performances; while we at FCA may not be overly impressed with the non-hausa cast ( who were obviously trying too hard with the language), we can at least rate them above average for effort and conversational emotions. For one Rahama Sadau was absolutely brilliant. I don't see how they could have cast any one better. Her portrayal of character is effortless, spot on and elegant, she is an absolute marvel to behold. Her elegance, grandiose demeanour and carriage is a sight to behold, she personally carried some episodes alone perhaps?
Paul Sambo, Mofe Duncan and Yakubu Mohammed were a class act. They entered character so fast you would have thought they had been friends all their lives. The emotion put into portrayal of character, emotional response to situational occurrences couldn't have been any better. This trio were totally well scouted for the roles and did marvelously well, at least we can confidently say they were way above average with everything they did.
Patrick Doyle has always been an old war horse, he always delivers when called upon to so do. We may easily run out of time if we were to review the breathtaking performance of all the actors, we will simply score the actors a marvelous 8/10.
To conclude, we are most impressed with the plot element or elements as they turned out. From rivalry, to politics, to love, to deception, to corruption and yet more of betrayals. This is a tvshow that could keep you guessing, a tvshow you may not predict successfully, a show you just can't wait to catch the next episode of, and a tvshow that occasionally presented you with that comic relief. The plot is complex, it's compelling and it embraces the contemporary ills of the Nigerian Society. At the risk of spoiling it for intending viewers, I can categorically say that we are most impressed with the positive portrayal of our Nigerian Security agencies and our anti corruption organisations, albeit with the portrayal of your everyday occasional bad eggs.
Two seasons have come and gone, and this series shows no signs of waning. We at FCA have sha removed our caps for this one. Ebonylife TV dn show us say there is nothing that can not be achieved with the right people at the helm of affairs, and with the right persons carrying out what needs to be done. A big thumbs up to the Production crew, the Directors, Ebonylife TV and our visionary Mo Abudu.

For the connoiseur of good Nolly production, this is for you. You won't be disappointed neither will you be let down by what you get.

FCA'S AppR: 8/10
