This is the latest installment in the Spider-man series, and this one is under the marvel cinematic universe. Let me just explain briefly , there is a three way agreement with regards to the ownership of Peter Parker who is being played by Tom Holland between Sony, marvel and Disney who owns marvel.
There was a rumour that earlier that marvel had purchased the rights of Spider-man back but this is not the case ,they just got back the right to produce on behalf of Sony, choose the cast, use their own directors, Kevin feige as president of marvel and his brain trust were the ones that are in charge of making this movie and it's predecessor, so what we got was really a marvel movie but all the profits went to Sony pictures while on the other hand marvel were able to get to use Spider-man in the mceu movies such as civil war, infinity war and end game.
Enough explanation just wanted to clear this confusion Now let's get to the movie itself
Far from home is the second installment of the rebooted spider Man movies and it's a continuation of the first movie. So we are introduced to life after the death of Tony Stark aka iron man, Peter Parker tries to cope with it, the burden, struggle and generally how much he misses his mentor. And in all this he also tries to be a normal college kid who wants to just hang out and declare his feelings for the love of his life Mary Jane.
He meets Mysterio while on an excursion and makes some mistake, he fights to correct the mistakes made and prove to himself that Tony Stark did not make a mistake making him his successor.
This is the plot of the movie and generally it's like all other super hero stories where the good guys always have to save the day but there are some twist to this particular story and it's this twist that provide for the fun and intriguing ride that this movie took us for all through its 110 minutes of runtime.
This was great to see and the twist really created some confusion because you never saw it coming except for the core Spiderman fans who knew that mysterio was just too good to be a good guy but even we the staunch fans did not see the way he was going to betray Peter Parker and that was refreshing.
Also the story had some sub plots and they were not just sub plot but they played into the main plot of the storyline and thus gave us a better story together.
Character development was great in this movie and we can see this especially with the character Peter Parker who starts off as a sad young boy who was mourning the loss of his mentor whole at the same time was also portrayed as a shy kid who was not able to declare his feelings for his crush, the beautiful Mary Jane played by Zendaya and we watch him go from this to being the confident super hero that Tony Stark knew he was always capable of becoming and it made for beautiful viewing.
Also for the first time in a Spiderman movie, Mary Jane was given flesh as a character, there was a person known as Mary Jane who was simply Mary Jane, we are introduced to her as a character before we get to the part where she becomes the girlfriend of Spiderman and this is not always been the case. Lot of times we just meet Mary Jane and her character flows from Peter Parker but in this movie she actually comes into her own and we hope this is the way to go.
Now let's get down to the casting, Sony had never gotten it right in like 4 trials on matter how hard they tried,but then marvel did what they know how to do and under the direction of Kevin feige, marvel chose the cast for this reboot and it was a success .
Tom Holland is spider Man in all aspects and he Can literally play this role for the next 50 years we won't complain he has been that good in it, Zendaya as Mary Jane if we thought that some of the people who played the role of Peter Parker had been bad, all the previous adaptations of Mary Jane had been plain terrible ,it was a lot watching Kirsten dunst for three chapters of Spiderman.
Also let's talk about the obvious chemistry between Tom Holland and Zendaya ,it was plain to see they just haave a great vibe when with each other and also this was applicable to Jack gyllenhaal who played the role of mysterio was also great beside our young cast, he was effortless in his role and he was great which is almost the norm for him, he as usual was a great actor in this movie.
Let's get to one the most important things in a marvel movie and that's the cinematography, fight and action sequences and they were great especially in the second half of the movie, where the movie really came to life and we were on the edges of our seat.
The stunts were great, cgi was effectively used and this is something that marvel are just good at, they know how to make effective use of cgi and it is never too little or too much the cgi used will always be in the right proportion.
The stunt double in this movie really earned his pay, there were so many flicks and tricks and they were just brilliantly done.
Now having said all that let's talk about the movie again , the movie was in two halves the first half of the movie which was essentially all about the character Peter Parker who was in love with mary Jane Watson and wanted to be a regular high school child who just had fun with his best friend and declare his love for the girl he is crushing on who is Mary Jane Watson.
The movie in the first half was basically a high school comedy and it was still funny buy moving on to the second half of the movie it really begins to come to life and take shape, and we get to really see the effect of the marvel directors in this movie and it was just great.
Adding up both parts of the film we actually get a nice, funny action filled movie which was great with lot of upside and yes we finally have a Spiderman who is meant for this role and he is still very young like literally.
From us at fca this movie is rated a very good 8/10 and I recommend that you go watch this movie and have a good time
And yes again so far it has grossed 600 million in its first week of being in the cinemas but then this is a unique situation wherein according to rumours Sony does not want the movie to gross more than 900 million but marvel are hoping it grosses another 400 which will give them the right to keep using Spiderman in their movies and well we all hope that this happens.
