john wick chapter 3 (parabellum)

And yes we are back with the third installment of the john wick movie which is called john wick chapter 3(parabellum) and yes let me just put it out there, in a year which we have had so many disappointments in form of blockbusters especially the action high budget movies it was refreshing to see a movie that did not really disappoint in what the movie was about.

Now briefly just a recap of what this chapter is; after gunning down a member of the high table,the shadowy international assassins guild legendary hit man john wick finds himself stripped of the organizations protective services. Now stuck with a bounty of $14 million on his head wick must fight his way through the streets of Newyork as he becomes the target of the worlds most ruthless killers. 

After having said all of the above lets not expect a movie that was about the plot, great storyline or the likes this was simply an action movie in the purest sense of the world each scene was to further an action and nothing more so when talking about this movie lets just remember what it is and not what we expect it to have been.

Having been a huge fan of the matrix movie franchise i never thought that i will see a keanu reeves movie that i will like more than it in terms of being an action movie but john wick has achieved that even though we are wondering how long it will go on for because its not yet in the class of the mission impossible category but with two more sequels if it happens it will get there but what will the story be because there is only so much you can get out of a very sub par storyline and spin it into way more than what it is which is exactly what the directors have done with this movie.

So having said all the above lets just look at the movie briefly,JW3 is a movie with the most basic of plot and thus really is not engaging in the way it could have been, the action in the movie just cover up a lot of flaws and mediocrity that is the storyline and plot of this movie. If you went to the cinema to watch this movie and you went with the hope of seeing a well written story with a great plot and character development you wont just be disappointed, you will be furious but then who goes with that in mind anyway.

Character development was non existent in this movie, nothing to talk about here, we could not really relate with most of the characters except the assassins who we could understand were motivated by greed and spite and thus their attempt to face death all in the hope for the bounty and the fact that they will be remembered as being the person that killed john wick aka baba yega the boogeyman
 Besides that there was really not much effort put into developing the rest of the characters and this made it hard trying to buy into the emotions and feelings they were displaying and the reasons they gave for what they were each trying to do and achieve in the movie.

Now lets talk about keanu reeves in this movie, this has maybe been his best work yet he is no longer keanu reeves but now john wick, he really emersed into this persona that you could be forgiven for thinking that this is who he really is and it was a great impression of a character i have seen in a long while. P.S i am not a fan and i have never been a fan of the actor keanu reeves not the man himself (for fun go and research how he got the role for the matrix and what was said about him after he acted lake house) but wow he won alot of critics over with his performance in this movie literally the few good things in this movie all involved him.
Halle berry was her normal self in this movie and nothing much can be said other than she was lovely and played her part well, what a figure she still has looking like she did when she first came on screen really nothing has changed,the rest of the cast were just there tbh

Now lets talk about what made this movie a must see, the action sequences , visuals, cinematography, stunts and everything that makes the violence in this movie acceptable. as we have always known neatly choreographed violence has always been the best part of this franchise and it has never been better than how it was in parabellum, it can simply be summed up as a refresher course and a liberating one at that in the nature of escapist entertainment. i can probably go on and on about the action in this movie because that was simply all that this movie had and they were not just good they were simply great and this is saying a lot when you realize that a stunt double was not used for anything in this movie each of the cast actually had to perform their own stunts and this why it seemed as if some sequences were slow they just had to be timed perfectly because it was a choreography and we just don't appreciate how hard this is actually imagine a cast of over how many people all had to be able to pull off their own individual stunts.

The visuals in this movie were just wow, how do you start with a fight scene under the rain, its just really great from the creative team.The action was so much that really when  you come out of the cinema you really cant remember anything else from the movie that was not fight related even the dialogues that are remembered are all from the fight scenes.

The action scenes were so good that this movie got  away with so much gruesome violence that would have been too much or over the top in any other movie this is not easy to pull off. the camera angles in this movie were great, it really zoomed in on all the actions no cutting or slanted angles . I cant even pick out my best fight scene in this movie they were great and i just loved it all of it.

Simply put JW3 delivers the most sensational real life ultra violent cartoon going. i could not have put it better so i will end with this , was JW3 a great movie no it was not but did i enjoy myself watching this movie ; you are so right i had damn so much fun watching this violent fantasy action block buster. Will there be a 4th chapter i hope so people.

From us here at fca this movie is rated a 7/10, it is highly recommended if you like action movies.
