GOOD GIRLS

                                                   Good Girls S2: Just Impeccable!!

When sisters Beth and Annie and their best friend Ruby become fed up with playing by the rules and not getting the respect they deserve, they band together to take control of their lives -- by holding up a local grocery store. Beth's the perfect wife and mother, but her used-car-dealing, cheating husband has sent her family into financial ruin; Ruby is happily married to a policeman but can't afford the medical bills and experimental drugs to help her daughter; and Annie, a single mom, is caught in a nasty custody battle with her ex. In desperate need of money, the women plan the heist expecting to ease their financial burdens. But new to the game of crime, they get pulled in deeper than they ever imagined and the only way out of this will be together, or by engaging in yet more criminal activities..

Coming into the 2nd season looked like a difficult task considering how good the first season was, however the 2nd season did not disappoint.  Perhaps one of the reasons why the 2nd season did not fail was due to the fact that the story directly tied into the plot of the first season and an existing conflict that had been developed over the course of one whole season. It was very good seeing the cast back together and being up to their usual devious selves in this very high stakes sequel.
The season commences with the reintroduction of the cast and the conflict as well as how the principal characters have dealt with the events of the first season and how Law enforcement is handling the situation.
Why we were really very impressed with the season is due to the pacing and an abundance of content to keep the show interesting and hyper captivating. The management of the conflict ensured that things remained interesting, dynamic and ever changing. In the beginning it was how to deal with the fall out of the first season by 'taking care' of the problem of the witness of the FBI, and that created new problems which they had to deal with, which in turn created it's own problems that needed taking care of as well. Midway through the second season, you could bet your finger that one of the girls was about to be had, but in an always ingenious twist of the tale, they come out of it, not perfectly unscathed, but at least out of it enough to enjoy temporary reprieve and find a way to land themselves into even bigger trouble.
We enjoyed also that the show runners introduced a little creativity to make the conflict exciting and conducive for the family atmosphere. Introducing Dean and Noah into the mix was genius. It kept the season moving, and Noah particularly ensured that viewers were constantly on their toes and always expecting the worst. That is what the show was meant to make the viewers feel and we really did appreciate the feeling the season give us and it's a big positive.

We would however admit though that at some point in the season it appeared as though the characters always found a way to repeat the same mistakes over and over again even though they make promises to the contrary every time they found a way out of a problem. Maybe that was all by design, to make us really invest our time and attention into the show, but we still have the feeling that the script writers and the producers are cutting it a little too close to a disastrously repetitive theme as compared with a repetitive success. We however think that what really brought the show back to the cusps of greatness is the "keys to the kingdom" move by Rio, as well as the tryst between Rio and Beth; incredible. Most especially when you relate the events of the mid season with those of the finale. Elisabeth Boland has really come a long way from the Book club mom of the first season to the "Boss Bitch" that Rio sees every time he talks to her. This in itself explains why Agent Jimmy Turner was so obsessed over her. He saw how she had evolved into someone who could run a criminal empire while fooling the entire community into believing she is nothing but a hardworking mom.
Leslie "Boomer" and his murder, as well as his connection with FBI's investigation really provided comic relief even in times when the show's disposition was more haughty and dreary than would ordinarily allow for the viewers to enjoy a hearty laugh.
This season we must admit really complemented the intensity and success of the first season. The show runners did not let the build up of the first season go to waste. It was a solid build up on the hard work of the first. The characters have all come full circle, they are now so relatable and their problems are now those of the viewers. If you thought the roller coaster ride of the second season was entertaining, the finale was an even more head scratching affair. What Beth did was interesting, and obviously the best play for the show, however the aftermath of the play and Agent Jimmy Turner's late play with Rio is even more frightening. Now both parties have aces up their sleeves and the other does not even know it. Things are really getting interesting, and whoever gets into trouble from now on, really is there at their own instance.
A superb showing from the show.  It's a must watch and it's really worth every moment of your time. We super recommend this show to all of our viewers and even more so we implore all who haven't seen the show to pick up the first season with the assurances that the second packs even more of a punch.
