Pokemon (detective pikachu)

Ace detective Harry Goodman goes missing mysteriously prompting his son Tim to come and investigate and try to figure out what happened to his father. Helping in the investigation is Harry's old Pokemon partner the wisecracking and adorable Pokemon called pikachu.
 Finding that they are uniquely suited to working with each other as Tim is the only human that can actually talk and hear the pikachu, they both form a partnership and they go about trying to solve the mystery.

 I don't even know where to start from but then let me just start by saying that this is not an origin story and maybe it is not even anything at all, it is not a sequel, prequel ,spin off, stand alone movie, it was just a movie and thus should be seen as that.

Having said that , the movie has a good enough story and plot which will keep you hooked until the end of the movie. The plot of the movie got better as the storyline progressed and this was quite good as the ending was really surprising, most of us did not see it coming.

Normally with cartoon adaptations they are always predictable due to the plot of the movie which are always very basic leaving very little room for intrigue and suspense.
We got a little bit of that in this movie but that does not still mean that the movie had a great plot because it did not. It just had a little twist at the end of the movie.

 Choreography and fight sequences, like how do you have a Pokemon movie and it's not filled with action scenes what is a Pokemon without fights, it was disappointing and I have no idea what the director was thinking but whatever it was, it totally disappointed us. When I saw the trailer I was hyped because they just showed the only fight scene from different camera angles and it had me going nuts just to watch the movir and realise that I was deceived by trailers yet again.

It's just a brain scratching decision to not make a Pokemon movie about the fighting abilities of the Pokemons ,this has to be the worst of all the Pokemon movies and cartoons I have ever seen imagine watching a Pokemon movie that was all about drama and comedy.

 Can Ryan Reynolds ever actually do anything wrong in a movie ooh yes he can Deadpool but that aside, let's just appreciate him for the great actor he is. 
He was one of the few good things about this movie, casting him to serve as the voicing for pikachu was brilliant to say the least and it's not just about being a fan of Reynolds he really was perfect for this role, his voice blended with the goofy and innocent nature of pikachu.
They basically got the casting correct in the movie and the acting was great both from the supporting cast and main characters, they did a good job but great acting can not cover for a bad movie owing to some poor and bad decisions. One last time incase it was not clear enough Ryan Reynolds is a great actor.

 Dceu should go and learn how to put cgi into good effects. The effects and visual outputs in this movie were absolutely brilliant.

There is always the chance that cgi will spoil cartoon adaptations if  you dont understand this try watching sonic hedgehogs 2019 and this point will make a whole lot more sense to you.
The cgi in this movie was great, it was not too much and it did not appear hurried rather it was well put into good use. Someone can ask how does cgi look hurried remember the moustache worn by Henry cavill in justice league, that is what we mean.

Again thumbs up to the graphics and effect director for a master piece.

 All things being looked at it was largely a disappointing movie barring the performance by Ryan Reynolds and the few flashes of action in the movie, also the little twist at the end of the movie. I hope we get something better the Pokemon franchise deserves way better than this.

From us here at fca it's a 5/10 for this movie but this is a movie that the whole family can watch and have a good laugh while doing it.
