The chilling adventures of Sabrina is the newest adaptation of the comic Sabrina the teenage witch. The series is simply the coming of age origin story of Sabrina spellman who is a half witch/half human as her father was a wizard while her mum was a full human. This causes the divide and clash in her life as her witch family expects her to totally abandon her human life as soon as she turns 16 and swear her allegiance to the dark lord, this is the conflict in the series and the whole show is centered on how she deals with the pressure, drama, romance, and her everyday life.
What a plot, simple and yet complicated , okay well I am a bit biased here because of the fact that I have been a long time fan of the comic Sabrina but then if you watch the series you will see why I am so in love with it. Really Netflix did a great job here.
Lets get down to it, it's a solid plot with a great storyline and sound development of the said plot, the show started as they meant to go from the first episode down to the last episode of season one. I literally could not remove my eyes from the screen until I was done with it.
The show picked up steam as soon as it began and it only got better, there was no weak episode or one that just was not interesting. Again each plot flowed from one episode into the next ,there was no break in the story and you could obviously see the plot develop right before your eyes and you can see the progression of the thought flow of the creative and writing team play out righHt before you on the screen.
I can't just say enough about the plot, story line ,plot and character development except that it is really great to see when it all comes together.
Yes and the casting was great, alot of regular viewers don't recognise what casting can do to series ,if you make mistake in casting it will be a miracle if that said show ever turns out good because if you give the wrong role to the wrong actor, it automatically spoils the movie. And in this case the choice for each of the roles was very very okay.
The only issue I picked up was the age of the actress that played the part of Sabrina, she is actually older than the age she was portrayed as in the movie. Normally this will not be an issue but in a case where age is actually one of the major themes, it was actually not that cool a younger actress could have actually been casted for that particular role.
Another thing I enjoyed was how the season one ended, the immediate conflict that was created was resolved and it left the viewers wanting so mucHh more thus increasing the demand for a second season of the series which the trailers will soon be released.
So all in all its a solid show, definitely one that you are going to love and enjoy. It's not everyday that you see an adaptation of a comic and Its near perfection in all the ways you can think about. From us at FCA its a solid 8/10. Let's hope for a better secind season.
