Hmm, breathes in, breathes out ,repeats procedure again, yes where do I start from and where do I stop, there is really nothing positive to say about the worst movie of 2018 so far, it's been a disappointing year for a lot of hyped movies but this is among the worst or if not the absolute worst of them all.
It's 2018 and it's the latest adaptation of one of the oldest and most common characters in hollywood, Robin Hood who is the vigilante that steals from the rich and gives back to the poor. Generally each adaptation has its own story but they all always keep with this storyline and arch.
Thus we meet robinhood a war hardened crusader played by Taron egerton and his aide little john played by Jamie Foxx who returns from the war and leads a revolt against the evil sherrif of Nottingham, and also his three way romance with lady Marian.
That is the normal plot of all the Robin Hood films but that is where the similarities ended with all the past movies. I don't know what they wanted to really achieve but whatever it was it never got to materialize. I kept on waiting and hoping for me to actually get the idea the director was trying to pass across I never did.
This is a story that is supposed to be set in medieval England but then you also want to make it a modern adaptation, thus already creating a conflict in the theme of the movie, and thus we neither get a medieval or a modern movie rather we get something that is stuck inbetween both of them .
Funny thing was the ending of the movie that made it obvious that there will be a sequel to this one I tried not to laugh but I just may stop writing reviews if they honestly get a sequel to this one.
Lets move on to the casting, they got it all wrong, of all the characters to have ever played Robin Hood Taron egerton is by far the worst among them, he just was not suited for this role ,it showed time and time again, he just could not relate to the role and it did not come out as a suprise to alot of people, when he was initially casted for the role a lot of critics complained but the company did not listen, it could have been better if they did.
Now after the casting lets talk about the acting by all the cast, not one single actor or actress in this movie came out with good grades, Taron egerton, Jamie Foxx, Jamie dornan, eve Hewson just to name a few , they were all terrible and that is me being nice they were all worse than that, and it's funny cause all the above listed names are all great actors so then it's obvious that something was wrong with the script and plot of the story.
Now let's look at the dialogues and costume In the movie ,the dialogues were part of the reasons that the acting was so so bad, and dont get me started on the costume, lady Marian was supposed to be a lady in a town that was extremely poor and struggling to survive and feed but she came across by her costume as someone that got her clothes from the Paris Fashion Week , same for Robin and the whole cast, the sheriff of nottingham was so decked out it left you wondering what was happening here.
The action sequences were the worst they went back to the 300 editing which we hate for those who don't know what I mean, I am talking about the slow motion and then fast pace of arrows, knives and punches which is just CGI and poor editing.
The jokes were not funny and even the scene meant to be serious and scary came off as just there.
Left to me I really won't stop but then it's enough all in all it was a total disaster and one that should never be repeated.
Funny thing was that in all this I still actually had fun watching it all the same. I will recommend it for everyone won't be the only one to actually watch this rubbish .
From us at FCA its a 3/10 it could have been lower but it was fun in a way.
