TITANS

                  Titans: What a Premiere!!

Titans chronicles the coming of age adaptation of the popular DC universe young heroes. Basically an adaptation of critically acclaimed animated DC comics Teen Titans, it follows the story of Robin, Koriand'r/ Star Fire , Raven and Beast Boy as they combine to stop a conspiracy that could threaten the entire world.
The premise or plot of the show is not exceptional, it is your everyday superhero story. A group of superheroes banding together to stop evil. Yeah quite simple, simplistic and nothing out of the box.
The series premier of Titans has not done much to reveal the plot and the conflict element and we would rather we didn't also reveal what should not be revealed. The first episode has however done more in 50 minutes than the entire first season of Cloak and Dagger has done, and that is on character development alone. The approach adopted in telling the coming together of the young heroes is something all creators should adopt when writing a superhero story. It is basically a waste of time to write the story to keep the group of heroes apart until much later in the series. We know the groups will eventually band together to combat evil, and most times there is basically no need for the story to be written to prolong the coming together. We loved the way in which Robin and Raven met, it was quite quick, straight and not unnecessarily boring. We are impressed. At the current frenetic pace they are going, it may not take up to the 3rd episode before the band is United to combat evil.
Why we are most impressed with this is that it gives the creative team much freedom and room to maneuver the narrative to create something special. It allows the show to develop around the characters rather than the character developing with the show. An example of the former is Netflix's The Defenders, it took a whole lot of time  to get the characters into their elements, which shouldn't have been since they already had their individual origin stories.
Back to Titans, the Premier was brilliantly crafted to meet the needs of young adults and in fact we can say it's tailor made for all audience. The combat is gritty, the violence is not half-hearted or mediocre.  We haven't seen much combat yet, but the little we have seen is reminiscent of Daredevil; it's fast paced, it's technical and surreal and we haven't seen much reliance on  CGI. There is certainly a lot to look forward to. Character costume( Robin) is near comic accurate and we just cannot wait to see what the costumiers will do with the rest of the team. The show already looks terrific, dark and blood curdling.
Conversation and character  performances seem to be on the average. We must however say that there is still a lot of room for improvement. It's just the first episode, more of them will come into their elements as the season goes into overdrive.
It has been a premier of much anticipation and satisfaction. We expected and action packed series, and the Premier has not failed to deliver the goods. We are very much hyped up for this and certainly would be rooting for this one not to fluke. It's DC universe's pet project, and DC fan boys definitely place a lot of hope on this one not to fail. We need it not to.
Overall a good showing for a pilot episode, we definitely will rate it above average with an FCA AppR of 7.8 /10 for the first episode. We hope the ratings and reception gets more positive as the season rolls on.
