A discovery of witches

A discovery of witches, a series that really catches your attention on merely hearing the name of the show. Well what do we have here, so far it's been a slow paced,suspensed filled, thrilling and enjoyable four episodes .
I was waiting to atleast see like half of the first season of the show before jumping onto the bandwagon and well it has delivered so far which should not come as a suprise. The novel the show is adapted from happens to also be a best seller and a fan favorite. A discovery of witches is the first book of the soul trilogy written by Deborah harkness.
Getting down to the show it self, it's based in the world of fantasy which includes witches, demons, vampire and other supernatural beings living among humans and In plain sight. It follows the life of Diana bishop who is played by (Teressa Palmer) she is a history major trying to get her professorship at Oxford university and yes she also happens to be a witch who is not in the least interested in her powers and heritage. She mistakenly recalls a book from a library which has long lost been missing and was wanted by all the factions in the show. She meets Matthew clairmount who is played by (Matthew goose) who is a also a biochemist professor at Oxford university and not forgetting he is also a vampire,  the show follows the both of them, falling in love and trying to solve the mystery of Diana's parents murder and about her powers which begins to manifest itself more and more as the show progresses.
I have seen a lot of supernatural shows but already I will rank this among the best,they really scored big here what a plot , with sub plots and various angles of storylines to walk with here. It's been a while I saw a show with this much potential.
So far we have seen four out of the eight episodes of the first season and there has been no weakness in the plot which has been gradually built episode by episode, really making you angry at all the networks that dont just release a season once rather than one episode a week which can be really annoying especially when it's a great show and you keep having to count down the days till the next episode drops.
There really isn't much to say about the show other than that it is great like really great, most of the times supernatural series always lack a decent plot rather what we get most of the time are just actions, stunts and gruesome death scenes which makes up for a poor storyline and poor acting. It's not the case at all with a discovery of witches rather we get a very solid show with a great plot and good acting, also accompanied by good action, gruesome death and other things supernatural shows are generally known for.

Getting down to the acting the lead characters put in a solid performance even if not a great one, it could have been better especially on the part Teresa Palmer who atimes seemed like she was struggling with it,  but other than this there really isn't much to fault in the show.
I just hope that the plot gets to develop a little faster and we are quickly introcuced to all the necessary characters in the show unless if the while of season one is meant for plot development and character introduction with a touch of flash back which will not really be that bad but still let's see a bit more action especially within the vampires it's been more about the witches majorly in the first four episodes.
This show is a solid 8.5/10 from us at FCA at  this point and at the end of the season will come back and do a whole review of the season. Till then did I mention that seal team and swat are back with their second seasons and you can also try magnum p. I.
It's a Skyone network original I hope to see more from them
