Getting down to it, marvels cloak and dagger is simply built around around two teenagers tyrone johnson and Tandy bowen who come from different background and who have acquired super powers after having been trapped underwater when the roxxon rig exploded, they get to meet each other and realize that their powers function better with each other but their feelings and life makes it all the more complicated.
The characters cloaks and daggers are not popular marvel heroes except to the comic fans who first came across them in the Spiderman original comic late in the 1980s,so when I heard that they were getting their own live adaptation under the mcu I was glad cause the comics was great and fun to read.
Herein lies the crux of my issue with most adaptations of the less popular characters in the comic world, they get to differ quite a lot from the original comic story especially when it comes to the origin of their powers which In the case of cloaks and daggers really differed from how it was acquired in the comics, just for emphasis in the comics they got their powers from being subject of an experimental drug which was being tested on subjects by a crime LOrd but in the series they towed a separate storyline entirely.
To the show itself Tyrone aka cloak is played by Aubrey Joseph, he is a young man with a stutter pent up anger and frustration after having seen his brother killed and the cop who shot his broter be cleared, he really gets to develop as the season progresses and tell comes into his own as he begins to understand his powers better.
On the other hand Tandy Bowen aka dagger is played by Olivia Holt, she has the powers to emit light daggers from her hands and to see e dreams, hopes of people when she touches them, she can also take them away leaving you very distraught, her character was more defined from the onset of the show more so than that of Tyrone the male super hero.
Essentially the show did not get much wrong in the first season which really is just an origin story and us the audience getting introduced and becoming more acquainted with the characters, their powers, struggles as they try to understand and process the changes they are going through.
On the point stated above the plot of the show really developed properly and we get to really feel the struggle of our heroes , their fears, defeat, hopelessness, despair ,literally we are taken along for the journey and it's really interesting to see their life's unfold before our very eyes. The writer did not rush the series at all well this could be owing to the fact that he was already assured of a second season and thus knew he could afford to take some risk .
Now enough with all the praise about plot and character development, one of the issues I have with the show is the vagueness of the villlian like you can't really pin your hand and say this is who they are up against and this is what they are trying to take down no matter how much the show tried we just could not relate or see the pressing danger posed by roxxon group of companies or the bad cop.
Enough said about that , its simply a good series that is primed for take off In the second season and I hope we don't get disappointed by what we see in the second season but am keeping my fingers crossed and am really waiting to be blown away.
From us at FCA its a solid 7/10 for this show.
