Today, I will jump right into a wholesome 6 season long review and critic of one of the most amazing reboots ever done. Netflix essentially declared themselves the Remake/ Reboot kings of television, and they achieved this in aces. Netflix's Voltron reboot is an absolute marvel, a near perfect reboot of a classic and a fan favourite. We were sceptical when Netflix announced it was picking this one up, and we were even more quizzical when we saw the first trailer sometime in 2016, but believe me, we have not been disappointed through 6 marvelous and incredibly rivetting and disturbingly engaging TV show.
That being said, let's simply get to it;
Voltron: Legendary Defender is set in a science fiction universe where the energy of "quintessence" can be used to power vehicles and magic. The series follows the adventures of the Paladins of Voltron who must learn to work together to form the giant robot Voltron and use it to defeat the evil Galra Empire.
That right there is where the grammar ends, now we go yarn una why this series sweet us and e dey totori our head like so.
First thing be say, this one na animated TV series, wetyn our people dey call cartoon, and our general belief, abi na perception na say cartoons na for children them, but any person weh yarn u that one na because him never watch this Voltron. Toh, the question weh people go wn ask na say why or wetyn make this Voltron make sense like so!? No worry, just open ur ear, cross leg and just follow us as we dey analyse and dissect this one for una.
Make we first talk the story, the story na just regular everyday story, anybody weh dn first watch Voltron back when we be children go know as the story dey; five guys weh just mysteriously find mechanical monsters weh dey designed for fighting and defending the universe shey? (These people sha think say this one na Igodo abi na Ijele?)
Anyways wetyn we dey talk na say the story na just basic story weh no too get corner corner. However sha, na the way them people at Netflix and Dreamworks take talk the story na ihm make sense pass. You know say if u dey follow our previous reviews u go see say we dn talk say no be only to get beta story be the thing, na to find person weh sabi tell story like say na Tales by moonlight. As we dn talk that one so, make I just yarn you say the way them tell the story dey mad gaan! The way them take introduce Emperor Zarkon and the witch Hagga mad gaan, all of us weh bin dey watch am just open mouth say which kyn life be this na!?
That one no do them, Allura, Shiro, Hunk,Pidge,Lance, Keith and Coran them first introduce them like say na them be the way forward, like say na them be the unstoppable force (like say na Isakaba), but omoh make I no lie you, when Zarkon and Witch Hagga show their own madness( plus Zarkon relationship to the black lion), na that time we come know say khaki no be leather O, no be by just being a palladin of Voltron! Man need mental and physical strength to fight Zarkon and The Galra Empire.
On the issue of how them take arrange the series, season 1 and 2 first face the battle abi na quarrel between Galra and Voltron, then when them realise say the whole thing dey taya people, them switch angle to how the Galra form, how Emperor Zarkon become the bad man weh him be. Na after them yarn us this stori all of us come get interest again, because we bin wn know whether the guy go change him ways( Like Clems Ohameze when him dn go do blood money), but we happy as the guy no change him ways, the man na bad guy to the end.
The fight fa? The fight weh dem dey use Voltron fight just dey like say na power rangers ( abi e be like when Pete Edochie dn go bury jazz for farm land weh belong to him brother children), as in the thing no just make sense. But when e reach hand to hand combat, omoh the thing dey on another level, the fight go just remind you of them naruto, one piece and Dragon Ball. We no too Surprise sha as per say a lot of Japanese people dey the production team( them be sabi people).
Last last, no be only say the series sweet, them make am make e no too be like say na for children them, this one na adult children film O. As them sabi tell story, na so them sabi change plot. For season 4 na so Prince Lotor just attack him popsi crew, follow join Voltron crew. All of us come feel say the boy weak pass him papa, him over fool us for 2 seasons before them dramatically reveal the boy dark side for season 6 for 2018 fa! Imagine. Kai, I no for like make any other person tell this story apart from Netflix. Them just sabi tell story.
Before we go finish this thing we dey do, dey get one thing weh dey chuk me for liver, why them dey always play that ridiculous music when the Voltron Lions dey merge? Even power rangers dey drop the scene when them dn do am for like 3 straight seasons. The thing dey sha taya me, and I dey forward am. Netflix no try for that one sha.
Final final sha, this one na good series weh u fit watch both as an adult and as a child too you fit enjoy am, if you go understand as things dey unravel. Their CGI makes sense, the story make sense, the fight scenes pass DC and Marvel own and the story telling is brilliant. The thing make brain die. Even though say we bin talk say the story was just regular and normal, this last season 6 dn sha change the thing, the dimension weh the thing dey go now, a lot of people online dn dey call for quick release of this one o, thank God say na August 10th e dey happen.
We sha gallant, ready dey wait make e drop. With the job weh Netflix do like this, me I no go argue against them if them decide to do remake of Mortal Kombat. E just be like say everything weh dem do just dey make sense left, right and centre.
Big ups ma guys! I no be Netflix hype man O, I just like dey watch better series weh dope die!
For effort, sticking to Originality and amazing story telling, we will definitely rate Voltron a solid FCA'S AppR Of 8/10.
