BATTLEGROUND : FINAL SHOWDOWN

                 Battleground:Final Showdown:

Battleground; final Showdown takes off from where the first season left off. It results the tale of family drama involving the Badmus family and it's little ( or Big secrets). The trailer of the second season offered an insight into what had become of the great Badmus family and it's patriarch, Chief Kolade Badmus after his final confrontation with The General. The trailer also introduced new faces from a sister Africa Magic Original TV show, Hush. But most importantly, the trailer offered the audience a snippet of what might have become of the family business and it's leadership. It promises to once again be a story of pursuit of power, love, betrayals and loss...

The season premier of Battleground : Final Showdown was yesterday, and it brought with it a feeling of exhilaration and a sense of belonging. It started off with an attack on Chief Kolade Badmus's Motorcade, and then we are drawn to the past, precisely Six(6) weeks prior.
The events depicted on the season premier were most accurately described as "filling in" and "introductory' in the sense that the creative team here did not seem it necessary to take the audience on a Joy ride towards discovering how the cast had managed to move on after the events of the finale of the first season, rather it undertook a narrative technique that presents what the situation was or how it stood after the events mention, leaving the audience to fill in the blanks. I particularly thought it says a brilliant move, we know those who have died, and we know those who had lost people Precious to then, and we know that they must have mourned and moved on in their own best way possible, this there was no need to kick-start the season that far back. Brilliant.
The introductory aspect saw the introduction of some of the characters from Hush into the series by making room for their characters to seamlessly insert themselves into the show. This move may have created a feeling of nostalgia in old-timers with the introduction of Koko(Meg Otanwa) the designer, and Adze (Baaj Adebule) and also Tes (Mawuli Gaver), we however have mixed feelings about this move, if not even an outright negative feel to this move.
In the first place, Hush was a very laid back and unserious TV show, contrary to the serious and complex narrative of Battleground. The move may appear to create a star studded second season right now, but in the long run it may not really bode well for the show. We hope it doesn't degenerate that far though.
The show holds a lot of promise once again, as we already have points of interests, we have the Kolade angle and how he could make a rebound, we have the Teniola Badmus angle and how she will deal with the arrival of Tess and we also have the Ola-Koko angle, could we see a love affair between both? Time will tell! Oh and the drama couple Hadiza Bako and Danlami Bako seem to still have their differences..... We will keep our fingers crossed on that issue.
Where we however have no idea is whether the general will still impact the show, whether he could pull the strings from the shadows thereby resuming the much talked about conflict from the season past, or maybe he'd play no part and it will all just be a family conflict situation, we do hope it's a little bit of both, but much of the former of we were to pick one.
Well the cast from Hush have brought their fun selves to battleground, it's bound to be funny and fun,  but we also hope that it would be great presentation once again and a great watch for all intents and purposes.
Starring ....Gbenga Titiloye
   Shaffy Bello
      Yinka Davies
    Ini Dima Okojie
     Meg Otanwa
     Baaj Adebule
     Mawuli Gaver
Executive Produced by Femi Odugbemi.
We'll recommend this to all our readers for what the future may hold.
We will however rate the season premier an FCA AppR of 7/10 for being a little too laid back.
