AJOCHE; AN AFRICA MAGIC ORIGINAL

                                         Ajoche: An African Epic!

When the King of Ocholuje's pregnant wife is murdered, the king in a fit of Rage sets on a war path, a path of destruction, a path he may never return from, one that would change the destiny of a village. It’s a story of love, war, honor, duty and betrayal. King Odaleko I, a man whose Rage is enough to destroy a kingdom, is also kind enough to allow a single child live. Is this child a child of Destiny? Is he a child capable of the unknown? Or is he one that could alter the destiny of Ochuluje or that of Agbor? What is General Ape hiding? What is His end game? The Royal household, the Queens and their daughters and their quest to bear the king a son. The calming influence of Queen Ochanya, the hot-headed queen Oganya and the mysterious healer in the palace, what could be her goal.

All these provide viewers with a compelling African Epic narrative capable of keeping you interested as the story is rolled out for you. The show right off the bat seemed tailored to meet the needs of a very demanding audience, from a picturesque setting to a depiction of culture, attention to detail and an amazing presentation of dialogue and conversational creativity. While the show may not boast of a very well known and established character ensemble, we are impressed with what the producers and directors have been able to achieve with this one. The script writer must also be commended for the effort put into presentation of the ideas. With a lot of nolly production, we have always said that the problem has never been a dearth of ideas, but rather presentation of the idea, and we are inclined to say we are deeply impressed.
Hilda Dokubo, Femi Branch, a cameo by Tokunbo Idowu( T.Boss), Lilian Afegbai. Other cast members include,William Benson, Lota Chukwu. They have all so far in the first 40 episodes treated us to superb on screen performances. General Ape's shift into character is reminiscent of an industry Veteran. We have not been let down by any of the characters so far, and this is inclusive of the Child actors; the performances of Alechenu,  is particularly worthy of commendation. His on screen performance, emotional responses and conversational mastery is just brilliant.

What perhaps makes this drama so compelling is the sequence in which ideas are presented. The plot theme conflict may not be diverse or multiple( I think there are just two major conflicts), but the presentation of the conflict is brilliant, the conflict is not unchanging, it is dynamic and evolving. There are unexplained angles and there are themes yet to be explored,. That is perhaps why, while some conflicts seem capable of being resolved one way or the other in Predictable fashion, the unexplored narrative, the character development yet to be completed leaves viewers guessing which way the show may go.
At the risk of spoiling it for intending viewers, the General Ape- Oofuni angle seem to have evolved from a secret affair with an undertone of revenge, to a full on conflict with series defining repercussions. We are also inclined to wonder what could be the fate of the Survivors of Agbor, and how they may impact the show. How about Alechenu? Is there a am unexplored dimension with him? If he found the Aleku tree, in what way wwouldhe influence the show?
We are further confronted with a moral dilemma, while we may be inclined to chastise the king for the actions he took under the influence of Rage, are we however comfortable with Oofuni succeeding with her plans?
This is just one show I love watching, it’s a show that offers everything, good English, conversational accuracy and top notch acting. There may be the occasional down time as with every show, but the Alechenu angle will always uplift your  episodes.
Production, direction and script writing couldn’t be better. We just wish and hope that the show is not botched in the long run.
Did I mention we love absolutely the Opening theme song? It’s deserving of accolades.
We recommend this to viewers who appreciate good acting and perfect presentation if ideas. It’s also good for someone who loves the epic, as I do!

 FCA’S AppR :8/10
