S. W. A. T.

Yeah it's another force related series but it's a good one though and it's been fun watching it so far, currently about concluding it's second season.

So basically swat is about an elite group in the police force, they tackle the worst cases and they always deliver headed by Hondo a black American who grew up in the hood and had to face a lot of race related issues growing up and which also played into his decision in becoming a cop,now as a leader of his own squad, he tries his best to avoid conflict between the hood and the force which is almost impossible.

Having seen what the plot of the series entails let's get down to the show itself and see what we like and don't like about this show.

Firstly it's not your regular police procedural, it's way more than that, the show really focuses on both the procedural and the action side of things. It also goes indepth into the lives of the cast, like every single one of them, we are being shown why each person is the way they are, how they each got to the force, their past, their personal lives which their work really influences, how they cope with the nature of their work and what they can't do as cops.

Also we see a show that takes its time in developing characters and sub plots, which are really endless in this particular show, each character gets ample air play, be it street, Luka, rondo, Jessica the list is endless, looking at street we are introduced to him by the third episode in season one and his character has gruadlly grown in the show, same can be said for all the rest of the characters.

Another thing I love is the action and fight sequences, it's always great from the stunts to the driving by Luka and street to the one on one take down, it's really choreographed properly, the camera angles the action scenes are shot from is quite great, there is no much use of cgi, it's really annoying when you see those shots of bullets slowly travelling miles in scenes and it's slowly captured, it's not so here the action is fast paced and fun to watch, it seems more real and believable .

Also yes the show tries to delve into a lot of topics, such as mental health of cops, racism in the force, the prejudice against coloured folks in America ,police brutality, corruption as a whole in the force and the cover ups we see daily by the bureaucrats .

This was a huge risk on their part because the public is quite divided on such topics and a lot of series avoid them entirely except when such show is tailor made for a particular section of the audience . But it was done brilliantly in this show and all their views were brilliantly delivered and almost without bias as both the view of the offender and the victim were shown and talked about.

Yes and it's been a while I saw a show where I loved the whole cast of the show, it was an all star cast and they all delivered and when I say delivered I mean top knotch acting. Casting is a huge part of the success of a show and in this case each actor got a role he was almost tailor made for and they each excelled in their role.

And finally yes they don't solve all the cases and they lose people also.

There is really nothing I don't like about the series so far except the fact that the nunber of episodes per season can be reduced, it gets tiring watching like over 18-20 episodes per season. If that can be worked on for subsequent seasons we really got ourselves a great police procedural.

Cast
Sherma Moore as hondo
Alex  Russell as Jim street
Lina esco as Christie
Kenny Johnson as don Luka
David lim
Stephanie sigman as captain Jessica
.
From us here at fca it's a solid 7/10 for this show as its one I will recommend for all to watch.
It's airing on CBS network and so far it's garnered good rating.
