The Nutcracker and The Four Realms: Disaster Strikes Again!!!
Young Clara needs a magical, one-of-a-kind key to unlock a box that contains a priceless gift. A golden thread leads her to the coveted key, but it soon disappears into a strange and mysterious parallel world. In that world, she meets a soldier named Phillip, a group of mice and the regents who preside over three realms. Clara and Phillip must now enter a fourth realm to retrieve the key and restore harmony to the unstable land.
The Nutcracker and the four Realms is yet another Disney failed fantasy drama for the year ended 2018. The concept of the movie is basic, character development is absent and the conflict is as poor as it's story. There is perhaps no positive to write about the movie save the decision to make this a movie for the young audience, in which case the point is well made.
Again I am inclined to boost its rating further a little for the decision to not over rely on the CGI and concentrate more on the storytelling, else this would have been another expensive mess like A Wrinkle In Time was. Thus, here we had a movie that was struggling to be a storytelling masterpiece, but which failed to tell any story or captivate the viewing audience.
Being a movie for the younger viewers, the plot theme elements were basic, simple and offered nothing in the way of plot twists. What we had was an easily Predictable plot element for all intents and purposes. This is so due to an apparent lack of character development and plot depth. If only the regents were given proper stories, perhaps the deceitful story spun would have been a little more convincing an

d a tad more relatable. In the absence of that, everything was Predictable and boring.
The decision to keep the movie at a ridiculously high pacing meant that everything was presented and resolved at breakneck speed, leaving the audience to wonder what more the movie had to offer; Nothing!
Conflict was abysmal, fight scenes were boring and the conflict resolution was not only awful but Predictable. Script writer owns all the blame for that one.
The acting as we have come to expect was good, these actors definitely did have the required command of screen and their conversational mastery coupled with their onscreen responses to events made the movie a little bearable. At least we can give a solid rating for Casting and Acting, albeit with the awkward realisation that Morgan Freeman felt out of place.
In all, it's just another fantasy movie devoid of creativity, good storytelling and poor concept development. The movie felt like an experiment or a careless throw of the dice, and sadly, it failed to impress.

It's a movie capable of competing with A Wrinkle In Time for worst movie of 2018, save for the decision to keep it 100% Young audience targeted, and for good management of resources by not over investing in an experimental project.
Once again it may Surprise you when you realise that the movie never really had a beginning. The script writer just threw in a bunch of characters and started writing dialogues for them. Awful!
