So basically that is the plot and storyline of the movie. If you are a follower of the franchise there is nothing to be surprised about how good the movie is, each of the installment in this franchise has been great except well in my opinion Rocky iv, which is the weakest in all of the franchise.
So having seen what the movie is all about let's get down to reveiwing the movie on its own merit.
First let's start with the plot, the story has a solid plot and we also see that in this case the plot and the conflict are one and same, there is no actual distinction and in this case it's quite good because it makes the movie quite easy to follow and understand. And also you could decide to start this franchise with creed 2 and you won't be lost rather you will feel very at home and get to understand what it is that you are watching without needing any back ground story, all the past needed to understand the movie are contained in it. This is not an easy thing to do with a franchise that has movies that flow from each other and are also stand alone movies.
The second thing I want to compliment is the acting, I am not a fan of Michel b Jordan who played the role of Adonis creed but damn you have to just give it up to him, he has really come a long way from the dude in fantastic four who was terrible, his career has really gone from one level to the next he is really in contention for break out star of the year he has done quite alot this year. He deserves all the accolades he gets.
Same can be said for all the cast of the movie from the top down to the bottom, be it Sylvester Stallone , Tessa Thompson, dolph lundgren, I could literally run through all the names of the cast and you won't find one with a bad performance.
Another good thing about the movie is the point of view of the storyline and plot ,I mean in the sense that no character is ignored both the villain and hero. In this movie you really get to know and understand the dragos for the first time, you get to see why they are the way they are and also why they could actually be called the victims and what they feel, you could almost find yourself relating and feeling sorry for them at a certain point. Lot of movies fail to do this as all we get are the thoughts of the heros and this can really be annoying every single time it happens .It was a welcome development in this movie and I hope to see it more often.
Finally let's talk about ten director ,writer and cinematographer, I have nothing but love for the three of them. Steven caple jnr was the director while Kramer morgenthau was the cinematographer, Steven did a good job after replacing Ryan coogler due to his involvement in black panther. I can't even begin to go into details with all they did except that they were fantastic.
Now down to the negatives which were not much to begin with but we can't ignore them so lets just point them out.
First let's talk about the fact that it actually seems too similar In the sense that it's the same plot and the same type of movie that is contained in the franchise, there is no risk taken at all, they just played it too safe with the story that has been tried and tested and it gets boring after a while, the motivational speeches,the insights into life,the vindication and ultimately the triumph.
Finally the difference in the weight class of Adonis and Viktor ,it's so apparent that it's almost laughable.
All in all it was a solid movie and it gets a solid 8.2 /10 from us here at fca, I recommend it for everyone.
