A SERIES OF UNFORTUNATE EVENTS

A Series Of Unfortunate Events: A Perfect TV Adaptation of Classic

This series follows the tragic tale of three orphans -- Violet, Klaus, and Sunny Baudelaire -- who are investigating their parents' mysterious death. The siblings are saddled with an evil guardian named Count Olaf (portrayed by award-winning actor Neil Patrick Harris), who will do whatever it takes to get his hands on the Baudelaire's inheritance. Violet, Klaus, and Sunny must outsmart Olaf at every turn, foiling devious plans and disguises. The series is based on the best-selling series of books by Lemony Snicket (aka Daniel Handler).

A series of Unfortunate Events is a Dark comedy based on the books by Lemony Snicket (Daniel Handler), starring multi award winning and multi talented actor Neil Patrick Harris, and newcomers; Malina Weissman, Louis Hynes and Presley Smith producing astonishing and brilliant acting and taking to their characters like fish to water. Patrick Warburton plays the on screen character of Lemony Snicket, who also doubles as the show's 3rd person narrator. Todd K. Freeman on his own part supplies a brilliant support to the main character in this bizarre tale of despair and sleight of hand.
The storyline and plot of the show is relatively not complex, following the travails of the Baudelaire orphans as they attempt to outwit failed actor-turned villain; Count Olaf who is after the inheritance of the orphans. It's a basic storyline with an even less complex storyline that if not managed properly could have presented a very dull and even less compelling narrative. We are however pleased with the management of an otherwise regular story to create perhaps the most interesting narratives of them all. The success of this show is not unconnected with the character management, the dialogue and perhaps the Satirical presentation of the ideas. We were most especially pleased with the performance of veteran actor Harris, and his portrayal of Olaf.
The utilisation of the 3rd person narrative by Netflix again is perfect, its use is brilliant once again, even though used in a totally different light when compared to its deployment in Dear White People, it's overall effect is once again amazing, helping make the show glow, and not lose artistic flair. The technique kept us interested all through the show.
Perhaps another aspect that makes the show so compelling to audience is the witty remarks of the characters, the sometime Funny execution of mischievous plots of the villain and it's more ridiculous failures. I must even mention the host of amazingly awesome support cast, the henchmen of the villain are not boring, neither are they stereotypes, even their names( or lack thereof) make them simply a marvel to behold. The Hookhanded henchman(Ally), Henchman of Indeterminate Gender and the rest are amazing in character. The show couldn't have asked for better.
What is perhaps even more interesting is the progression of the Deviousness of the Villain. It was such that whereas in the first season of the show, the villainous Count Olaf was perhaps just a nuisance, but with the coming of the second season, his intentions had become more desperate, and he was becoming even more dastardly in execution of his ploy, leading to not only the elimination of the threat posed by Jacques Snicket and Olivia Caliban, the only positively allied friends of the orphans, while also ensuring that the status of the orphans changed from victims, to those of wanted fugitives.
I believe that The show itself is a tale of good casting, awesome character management, brilliant dialoguing and an even more scintillating script writing. Netflix has been able to do the unthinkable and present a near perfect tv adaptation of an otherwise difficult piece of work to pull off.
The custumiers did an amazing job in collaboration with the makeup crew. Their work is resplendent with a lot of creativity, it's so brilliant it would have made u wonder if perhaps you were watching an art exhibition. Okay, perhaps I am overstating facts, but the crew were that good. The viewers were impressed, critics were full of praises and we cannot overemphasis the impact they have on the general outlay of the show. Brilliant!
We can positively rate this one a solid FCA AppR of 8.1/10
