Castle and Castle is the new legal drama series aka Naija Suits to hit your screens or your mobile devices this season . The series is an ebony life tv productions as directed by Kenneth Gyang and Tope Oshin ,produced by Isioma Osaie and Temidayo Abudu
Summary ; Castle and Castle is a prestigious boutique law firm co-owned by Remi and Tega Castle as played by Richard Mofe Damijo and Dakore Egbuson Akande . The series is centered on the married couple who are lawyers and co-own the law firm and have different views about running the law firm .The series seems to be centred more on family drama rather than dwelling on the Legal part of the drama .
The first episode starts off with a make out session between the couple in the filing room . All i could think of was why are being introduced into a sex scene at the beginning of a new series ? I am like but you are married , why can't you wait till you get home before you unleash the dragons . Hikes ! They are interrupted by the legal secretary , who reminds them of their office party to celebrate their biggest milestone as a firm .
We are introduced to the villain of the show ,Mike as he closes a settlement case of over a 100 million which calls for a celebration . If you watched suits , you will smile and picture Mike as Harvey Specter , cocky , ambitious , sexy and the best closer the world has ever seen .
All of a sudden , Dakore 's father as played by Bimbo Immanuel storms into the party and we are left wondering who is the lousy character,as he makes a statement about mike becoming a partner .Tega is enraged and gets into a heated argument with his father in law and they both air their dirty laundry at a party ? I was still not understanding what is the big deal about making partner ?
I mean that is the standard procedure in most law firms to promote associates who are exceptionally good . The dream of every associate is to to make partner . Next thing star boy decides he intends to leave the law firm because the founders of the firm have refused to make him a partner . Okay ? valid reason to want to leave a law firm but what is the point of making him the villain of the show ! Solely on that , there is nothing intriguing about that . He stated that he was taking their biggest clients with him since he is damn good lawyer . Hello ? There is supposed to be a letter of employment which forbids an associate from poaching clients .That whole scenario just reminds me of Jack in suits who wanted to make partner by all means and made life unbearable for Jessica and Harvey ! I mean this series can do better than this .
We are introduced to another scene which is supposed to be a comic relief . After all ,the characters are played by the biggest comedians of the moment ,Seyi law aka Man of God storms into the law firm with two plus size women , apparently one of them is Chigurl approaches the legal secretary to see a Lawyer . That scene left me appalled , I just want to move on !
The client makes a copyright claim against his church member ,Emma oh my God who is being sued for copyright infringement .Apparently , that scene was supposed to make us laugh with the confusing soundtracks whenever Seyi Law said something .
Eku Edewor's character is a brilliant associate and we see her in action while handling an intellectual property case between Seyi law and Emmy oh my God .
I will rate them a 3/10 , but i trust they can do so much better in other episodes .costume -check ! props ,check check ! but as far as the acting goes for the A-list actors 😱.
However , two people stood out for me ,Eku Edewor seemed to be the iron woman of the firm and she sure put in a little bit of effort into the series . Blossom's character is quite emotionless , he appears to be standoffish , quiet and a little bit mysterious . Well played , blossom 😘
As to the rest of the cast , i am not just feeling the vibe , it just feels forced and there are too many unnecessary scenes which they can save for later too many confusing characters and intrigue is far fetched . Episode 2 is already out ,we hope it will be a lot better than the first episode .
